Since joining Rice Pugatch Robinson & Schiller, P.A. in 1993, Lisa Schiller has specialized in all areas of creditors' rights and insolvency matters, with an emphasis on business reorganizations and bankruptcy related litigation. She has represented a wide array of industries with a specific focus on the representation of Chapter 11 debtors in possession, from small to large and multifaceted bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings.
Licensed to practice in Florida and New York, as well as the Third, Sixth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeal and the District Court for the Southern District of Florida, in addition to focusing on Chapter 11 debtor in possession representation, Schiller has also represented Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 trustees, secured and unsecured creditors, potential acquirers of businesses and assets from bankruptcy estates, receivers appointed in federal court Securities and Exchange Commission proceedings and assignees in state court insolvency proceedings.
Schiller's keen knowledge of business reorganization has added to the already thriving practice of Rice Pugatch Robinson and Schiller, P.A. Her understanding of bankruptcy issues and commercial litigation is a key asset in the firm's success.
Schiller graduated cum laude from St. Thomas University School of Law, and served on the Board of Advisors for the law school for the years 2001-2004. She continues to serve on the Bankruptcy Bar Association of the Southern District of Florida Bar as a committee chair where she previously served on the board of directors for the years 2003-2006, as an officer from the years 1999-2001 and served as president of the Bankruptcy Bar for the years 2001-2002. She has also served a five-year term as Chair on a Florida Bar Grievance Committee. Amongst her many other affiliations, Schiller is a very active member of the Business Law Section of the Florida Bar and was appointed to the Business Law Section Executive Council in 2003, on which she continues to serve. Schiller was appointed and served as Vice Chair of the Bankruptcy/UCC Committee of the Business Law Section of the Florida Bar from 2004-2005 and served as Chair from 2005-2006. Thereafter, Schiller was appointed as Vice Chair of the Bankruptcy Judicial Liaison Committee of the Business Law Section from 2006-2007 and is now serving as Chair of the Bankruptcy Judicial Liaison Committee. Schiller has served on the chapter 11 Local Rules Committee for the Southern District of Florida Bankruptcy Local Rules and assisted in the suggested revisions for the rules affected by such cases.
Schiller is rated an "AV" lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating granted and signifies the highest level of professional standards of conduct, ethics, reliability, diligence expertise and professional qualifications. Her extensive experience has garnered her many accolades, including being recognized as an "up and coming" attorney among the top lawyers in South Florida by the South Florida Legal Guide, as well as being ranked in 2005, 2006 and 2007 Chambers and Partners' Chambers USA Guide, "America's Leading Lawyers for Business".
