With over 30 years of experience practicing law, Arthur Halsey Rice continues to lead his Fort Lauderdale based firm, Rice Pugatch Robinson & Schiller, P.A. From his first job at a commercial litigation firm, to the formation of his firm, Rice's work has garnered him much attention.
In 1980, Rice began his own practice, which he based in Miami. Since the firm's inception, Rice has added three partners, eight associates, four paralegals and 10 additional staff members.
Rice's extensive experience as a litigator and a bankruptcy lawyer has parlayed into numerous multimillion-dollar settlements and/or conclusions on behalf of his clients, including claims involving legal malpractice (Fun Train - special Counsel to Trustee), breach of fiduciary duty (APL Corporation - Counsel to Trustee), claims involving a bank assisting in debtors fraud (FinFed - Counsel to Trustee) avoidance of notes as fraud (Jet Lease - Counsel to Trustee), and garden variety fraudulent transfer issues (Roy Talmo - Counsel to Trustee). Rice also has extensive experience in defending D&O, fraudulent transfer and breach of fiduciary duty claims.
A Connecticut native, Rice moved to South Florida in 1973 to attend the University of Miami School of Law. He graduated three years later and began practicing with a commercial litigation firm in 1976. Rice received his Bachelor's of Arts degree from Quinnipiac College in Hamden, Connecticut.
In addition to his many years practicing the law, Rice has also served his country as a helicopter pilot for the United States Army, where he was awarded the Purple Heart, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and other citations before retiring with the rank of Captain.
